Remnant Boulders
Continents collide. Mountains form. Erosion follows. Rocks recede. Forests grow. In places, rock resists and boulders remain — for eons.
Allegheny peaks and forests are peppered with singular boulder formations. The rocks are much older than the forest. They are much, much older than us. They sit in silence as life around them grows and dies. Seeming permanence surrounded by impermanence.
Mark’s images of remnant boulders in north central West Virginia aim to provoke contemplation on the short amount of time we have to walk the Earth.
On Exhibit: September 2025 at The Aurora Project in Aurora, WV, along with Graffiti Corners. Exhibit runs from Sept. 7 - Oct. 5.
